IMPORTANT: Most instructors do not
make their course Blackboard sites available to students until the class start
date and sometimes not until after the start date. Prior to that, you will not
be able to access your Blackboard course site(s), even if you are able to login
to the Blackboard system.
If you have never had a class in Blackboard at Chabot
before, you won't be able to login to the system until about one week prior to
the start of classes. If you register after that, it will take at least 24 hours
after registration for you to login to Blackboard.
You also will not be able to login to Blackboard to view a past course if your
instructor has made the course Bb site unavailable. (Most instructors make
Blackboard sites unavailable to students shortly after a course has ended.)
Go to the login page
https://clpccd.blackboard.com. Add this address to your Favorites
or Bookmark it;otherwise, you may end up having to login twice each
time if you save any other page. NOTE: Logging into Blackboard from the Zone is not recommended.
Step 2: Enter your username and password:
Username:
Your User Identification Number,
or "W number," which is a unique number
beginning with W and containing 8 digits.
Password: the first two letters of your first name, followed by the
first two letters of your last name (all lowercase), followed by the last four
digits of your User Identification Number.
For example, Maria Valdez with a User Identification Number of W12345678
would log in as:
Username: W12345678
Password: mava5678 (all lowercase letters + last four digits)
Click Login. You may see the following Security Alert:
Click Yes. You should now be in Blackboard.
Step 3: Verify your e-mail address
NOTE: In order to receive email from your instructors, you must
determine which email account you want to use for Blackboard. The default email
address posted in Blackboard is Zonemail. You will
automatically receive school emails through your Zonemail account unless
you change it to a
personal email account.
You can choose between one of the following options:
OPTION #3: Use your existing personal email account. You will need to
enter your email address in
CLASS-Web. Follow the five steps below.
1) Login to
CLASS-Web
2) Select What is my email address?
3) Select Update Email Address.
4) Under Type of E-mail to Insert select Email for Blackboard and
click Submit.
5) Enter the email address in the field next to "E-mail" and click Submit.
Step 4: (OPTIONAL): Change your password
Look for the Tools box
(see screenshot, right), and click on Personal Information. (If you do not
see the Tools box, you are not on the My Institution page. Click
on the My Institution tab in the upper-left corner).
Click Change Password.
Enter your own unique password in both password fields.
Click Submit at the bottom. At the next two screens, click
OK.
If you forget your password, click on
Forgot Password or
request a password
re-set from the Help Desk.
Step 5: Access your course site(s)
Look to the far
right under My Courses and click on a course link to enter a course site. Once
in each course site, click on each menu item (button) to become familiar with
the contents posted by your instructor.
